The current timetable
Under the Pensions Act 2014, State Pension Age is 66 for everyone born on or after 6 October 1954. From 6 May 2026, the transition to SPA 67 begins for those born from 6 April 1960 onwards, and completes on 6 March 2028 for those born from 6 April 19621. SPA 68 currently applies to those born on or after 6 April 1977, due 2044 to 2046, but successive governments have flagged this is under review2.
Day-level precision
For most cohorts your SPA falls on a specific calendar day, not just a year. The DWP's gov.uk SPA checker returns the exact date3. We model SPA at the year level here; for the exact day, run the gov.uk checker.
